Women Self-help Group

My name is Obert Mathivha. I work for a women’s organization in Kenya and have been assigned with a task of leading a team of five volunteers in setting up women self help groups in Kibera. Located in Nairobi, Kibera is the largest urban slum in Africa.

The overall goal of the project is economic independence for the women. Each self help group will work towards creating and selling traditional jewellery and handicrafts from Kenya. Funds for the project are limited. Volunteers are welcomed. In the next few days we would be starting with our awareness campaign about this initiative and garnering support in terms of funds and manpower to ensure successful completion of the project.

To spread out the word about our work to potential donors and volunteers, we have decided to adop a dynamic mechanism of information dissemination. - A blogging website page of this nature that provides a variety of social media reporting tools such as write ups, images and videos. We aim to appeal and reach out to a wider spectrum of our audiance and clients at a lesser costs. This is the webpage link for the moment Women Self Help Groups. An online catalogue showcasing our beautiful jewellery and handicrafts can be found on the above provided weblink. In order for you to get short instant updates from the field which highlight moments of pain, courage and triumph just follow us @omathivha here. Episodic video updates which capture the progress of the project and stories of human interest will add a powerful visual element to the communication efforts.
